Free Craft Friday!

Make this cute bracelet out of recycled materials! This is a great project for kids and it uses my fun "Serge Purge" double wide creative pack of serger strips! They are available for cheap on my Etsy site!
Materials: aluminium foil- new or reused
fabric scraps, get a great mixture already cut from my Etsy shop!
masking tape
Step 1: Form a crunched strip of foil about 2-3" longer than the circumference of your wrist.
Form a circle and join by crunching together.
Step 2: Wrap the circle with masking tape...with the STICKY SIDE OUT.
Step 3: Wrap the taped circle with random fabric strips. Mixed prints and colors look so sweet!
Step 4: Finish off with a dab of Tacky Glue or hot glue to hold the end of the last piece.
Step 5: Tie a fabric bow on as a final touch! Cute Huh?
Let me know if you try this! Check my Etsy shop for fun craft supplies!
This is my first tutorial, so my photos are reversed, but I think you can tell what I mean!:D

Get Your Trailer Couture Here!

My Etsy shop has these two items listed! How cute is this little tank top for your sweet girl? The applique is both handsewn and machine stitched. Sooo Cute! And, for a little touch of "humble" anywhere, this little collage painting is perfect!

Wonderful Wednesday Finds!

We went Yard Sale-ing last Saturday and my best find of the day was this very old and shabby "Dick and Jane" book from 1940! Funny thing is I recently bought some cute paper punches from "Silverfish Studio" on Etsy, (darling packaging) because I love the old illustrations, and I knew that if I ever found an actual old D&J, I would never bring myself to cut it! And, now, an old copy has fallen into my hands! I won't cut this one, but I will do something special with my sweet cut-outs!

I was hoping that my assortment would include the smiling duck..it did not... but here it is in my book! I'm so glad to have found it!

What is this Stuff?? What Do You Do With It???

Are these not the prettiest things? If you sew, you probably know what these are. If not, let me tell you..they are the cutest things for crafting!! These are serger scraps! My serger cuts the edge off the fabric when it sews it, and these are left over. I think they are much too pretty to put in the landfill, so I am packaging them up in big priority pouches and selling them on my Etsy site! And since the bag is stuffed so big, I'm calling it a "Double Wide"! They are so great for all kinds of crafting! Fringe on bookmarks, collage, trim, tassels, tags, cards, doll hair, crochet, I could go on & on! Check them out, they are in my favorite bright colors, mostly knits, but some darling prints too. Hey, comment here if you think of another great use for them!
Double Wide Serge Purge! There's a fresh idea!

Sewing with an Old Lady

My DD and I were poking around in our storage building & found this Old Lady! We've been playing with and sewing with her all afternoon! She weighs a ton! But she stitches beautifully!

I have a treadle machine that sews wonderfully as well but I couldn't get the cabinet in my car along with my thrift finds, DD and Shih Tzu today. I think I might go get it though & use it in my Diva Do classes this fall! Check my Diva Do blog with the link on the right.

My daughter wants to use the Old Lady to make Blythe clothes!

Plain Jane Painting Yard Sale Find!

I found this great oil (I think) painting at a yard sale, for cheap! She is in a Fabulous frame! I loved how she is a Plain Jane rather than a glam beauty. She is signed and dated, Al Mayton 1963. She is Sooo Helen Crump, (Andy Griffith's girlfriend) or Prim Librarian, and I just thought she was wonderful!
My first thought was to alter this painting by adding a crown, collage, poetry, etc. to make her Over the Top Divine! I thought she could be done up as a Plain Girls are Fabulous theme!
But, as an artist myself, I wonder if I should leave her be. Or, should I put her up for sale to a collector?
I've put up a poll on the right for you to vote. Come on! Let me know what you think!

I found this old Avon Cotillion creme jar. I thought it was just Darling! How sweet on a dressing table. I might use it for a pin jar or maybe to hold pink glitter! I love the old pink color!

Check out my shop, she might just be for sale!
